The full New York City Ballet company is at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, New York this week with six performances featuring the timeless works of Balanchine and Robbins, as well as the return of Merce Cunningham’s Summerspace and SPAC debuts by Jamar Roberts and Pam Tanowitz.The week kicked off with NYCB On and Off Stage and closes with “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”To tell us more we are joined by dancer Indiana Woodward.

Set in an apple orchard in the foothills of the Berkshires, PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century presents dance, music, and theater. PS21 programming also includes free performances for kids, dance, and theater workshops, and movie screenings. Jacob’s Pillow gets underway soon for this summer’s Dance Festival, including 10 weeks of performances, talks, community events, exhibitions, and more. This year marks the 90th Anniversary Season of the Dance Festival, which will celebrate the reopening of the renovated Ted Shawn Theatre and a return to indoor performances at Jacob’s Pillow. There will be works that connect nine decades of Pillow history to genres that have never been a part of the Festival before. Jacob’s Pillow Executive and Artistic Director Pamela Tatge joins us.

Mark Morris has been hailed as the most successful and influential choreographers alive, and indisputably the most musical -- and his company has been called the preeminent modern dance organization of our time. The Mark Morris Dance Group will be at The Egg in Albany on Friday, March 11th accompanied by the MMDG Music Ensemble they will perform ”Words” and “Jenn & Spencer” – the program will also include “Gloria.” In 2015, Morris was inducted into the Whitney Hall of Fame at the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, New York.

David Byrne may be the rock star in the title of "David Byrne’s American Utopia on Broadway" – now at the St. James Theatre - but on stage in "American Utopia," he shares the spotlight with dancer and vocalists Chris Giarmo and Tendayi Kuumba. Tendayi Kuumba and Chris Giarmo are back on Broadway appearing in the David Byrne experience that is part concert, part exploration of modern Americana. And they’re both singing and dancing on stage alongside Byrne and nine amazing musicians. They join us this morning to discuss what they've learned from working with the music icon, how the show plays differently in 2021 and what it is like performing in bare feet and in gray suits.

It’s a competitive and physically and mentally demanding career that combines elite athleticism, artistry, and performance.As a principal ballerina with New York City Ballet —not to mention a mother of three and a recent MBA graduate from NYU’s Stern School of Business — Megan Fairchild is all too familiar with these challenges. In her new book, "The Ballerina Mindset," she shares what she’s learned from her nearly two-decade career, drawing upon her own experiences to reveal how she learned to overcome everything from stage fright and negative feedback, to a packed calendar and weight management.

In 1986, choreographer and director Bob Fosse cast actor and dancer Mimi Quillin in the first Broadway revival of “Sweet Charity.” For the production, she served as dance captain - assisting Fosse and Gwen Verdon in recreating the original 1966 choreography. Quillin will perform her one-person show “Call Fosse at the Minskoff” in a pre-off-Broadway engagement at The Mahaiwe in Great Barrington, Massachusetts on October 15 and 16. In “Call Fosse at the Minskoff,” Quillin recounts her experience working with Fosse and Verdon on what would be their final collaboration.

Barrington Stage Company is presenting the World Premiere Musical: A Crossing – A Dance Musical. This story about a group of migrants crossing the southern border is raw, visceral and electrifying — demonstrating the personal impact of crossing an “invisible line.”

A new opera, theater, music and dance company is coming to Hudson, New York. Festival Theater Hudson incorporates modern dance, exciting visuals, and an overall thrilling experience across a full season of performances. Festival Theater Hudson will kick-off its inaugural season, beginning with a Gala Inaugural Concert and reception on October 16.

On September 11, The Woodstock Film Festival will present two sneak peek screenings of "In Balanchine's Classroom" at the Kaatsbaan Cultural Park in Tivoli, New York.
