The Delegation of the European Union to the United States has selected the Berkshire International Film Festival as the inaugural U.S. festival partner for its newly launched Transatlantic Rising Stars Project. The initiative is designed to deepen cultural connections and spark creative collaboration between the EU and the United States.As BIFF enters its third decade, the partnership underscores the festival’s growing role on the international stage. Together with the European Union and U.S. based partners, the Transatlantic Rising Stars Project aims to elevate creative dialogue, broaden public engagement, and support the ongoing development of global artistic exchange.EU film directors applied to be a part of the 2026 cohort and we are joined by filmmaker and Film Program Director of the Transatlantic Stars Program Seanne Winslow; director of ‘SLEEPLESS CITY,’ from Spain, Guillermo Galoe; and director of ‘UNDER THE GREY SKY,’ from Poland, Mara Tamkovich.The EU films are screening during BIFF, and the Tea Talk featuring the five filmmakers is taking place on Saturday, May 30 at 3:00 PM right here in The Indigo Room at The Mahaiwe.

“Anxiety Club” offers an insightful and humorous exploration of anxiety through the lens of some of today’s most brilliant comedians: Tiffany Jenkins, Marc Maron, Aparna Nancherla, Mark Normand, Joe List, Eva Victor and Baron Vaughn. With a mix of stand-up performances, sketch videos, exclusive interviews, and relatable everyday life experiences, they share their personal struggles with anxiety, the world’s most prevalent mental health condition. The documentary has been screening at film festivals around the country and, as of today, is available on jolt.film.

The Woodstock Film Festival will present a special Book Banning and Freedom of Expression event featuring a screening of The Librarians, a powerful new film by acclaimed director Kim A. Snyder, followed by a post-screening conversation with the filmmaker at Upstate Films Orpheum Theatre on August 8th in Saugerties.

“A Lien,” written and directed by brothers David and Sam Cutler-Kreutz, drops viewers into the tense and complicated experience that a noncitizen can go through in the U.S. legalization process.The short film, which is nominated for an Academy Award, follows a young couple navigating their Green Card interview at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office when Immigration and Customs Enforcement - or ICE - makes an unexpected appearance and the afternoon takes a turn for the worse, putting the couple and their young daughter in unexpected danger.

The Berkshire International Film Festival in Great Barrington, Massachusetts gets underway May 30 and on Saturday, June 1 it will feature a special tribute event for the documentary "Merchant Ivory" and the filmmaker James Ivory in conversation with documentary director Steven Soucy and WAMC's Joe Donahue.

This weekend, PAC NYC presents “Number Our Days: A Photographic Oratorio.” With music by Luna Pearl Woolf, a Concept and Libretto by David Van Taylor, “Number Our Days” is based on Jamie Livingston’s 18 year long “Photo Of the Day” project.

The new documentary film “Joan Baez: I Am A Noise” is a biography that opens with her farewell tour, and uses her journals and archival footage and photographs to stunningly depict Baez taking stock of a life lived in the public eye – in an unsparing fashion and confronts sometimes painful memories.

"Surely You Can't Be Serious, The True Story of Airplane!" is the name of a new book by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker - the trio who wrote and directed "Airplane!"The book tells the true story of the 1980 hit comedy, the first-ever oral history of the making of Airplane! by the creators, and of the beginnings of the ZAZ trio (Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker) – charting the rise of their comedy troupe Kentucky Fried Theater in Madison, Wisconsin all the way to premiere night.Four decades after its release, "Airplane!" continues to make new generations laugh. Its many one-liners and visual gags have worked their way into the mainstream culture. We are joined by the ZA is ZAZ – David Zucker and Jim Abrahams.

From 2016-2022, filmmakers Zuzka Kurtz and Geoffrey Hug documented six 1st generation Bangladeshi immigrants from Hudson, NY as they graduated high school and journeyed to colleges around the northeast. The unexpected political events of those years propelled the students to confront anti-immigrant sentiments, the #MeToo movement, forbidden love, and their parents’ idea of “The American Dream.”The resulting documentary film “Hudson, America” is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Kanopy.

Tonight, The Moviehouse in Millerton will open Director Kyra Sedgwick's new dramedy, "Space Oddity," and on Saturday, April 1 – tomorrow night - after the 6:30 p.m. show, Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon will sit down with Griffin Dunne to talk about the making of the movie. The sold-out event is part of The Moviehouse's "Meet the Director" series. "Space Oddity" will screen at The Moviehouse into next week.The film, which had its premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival in June 2022, was written by Rebecca Banner and, alongside Kevin Bacon, the film stars Kyle Allen, Alexandra Shipp, Madeline Brewer, Simon Helberg and Carrie Preston.Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon join us.
