For over 25 years, Cochemea has built a career as a saxophone soloist and section player, and composer/arranger. His most recent album on Daptone Records, Vol. 3: Ancestros Futuros, is the third volume in a series that includes All My Relations (2019) and Vol. 2: Baca Sewa (2021). Cochemea is playing two shows in our region - the first on Friday at Tubby’s in Kingston, New York and the second in MASS MoCA’s Club B10 in North Adams, Massachusetts.

The new concert documentary, “The Hip-Hop Orchestra Experience” showcases a 28-piece hip-hop orchestra led by JooWan Kim, a Korean-born composer blending the worlds of hip-hop and classical masters like Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach. “The Hip-Hop Orchestra Experience” will premiere on PBS All Arts tomorrow, March 19. It is directed by Josh Nesmith and he joins us along with aforementioned composer JooWan Kim.

The two-time Grammy award-winning Albany Symphony will present three new and recent works by Viet Cuong and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4. The pair of concerts will take place on Saturday, April 13th at 7:30pm and Sunday, April 14th at 3:00pm at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall and will also feature Grammy nominated ensemble, Sandbox Percussion.

The new musical adaptation of “Water for Elephants,” based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Sara Gruen, opens at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre tomorrow night. Previews began in late February. The show is directed by Tony Award winner Jessica Stone and features a book by Rick Elice and music and lyrics by our guests - PigPen Theatre Co.
