Austin Pendleton joins us this morning just as he is ready to star in the Broadway show "The Minutes," a new American play by Tracy Letts. Previews began on April 2 and it officially opens on April 17. And if this seems like deja vu, it's because well, they were starting to do that in 2020 and COVID hit, and they stopped when Broadway shut down. The show, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, will take the stage at Studio 54. Actor and director, Pendleton, joined us to talk about his career, the new work, and Ethel Merman.

Manhattan Theatre Club’s world premiere of Prayer for the French Republic opened Tuesday, February 1 at New York City Center – Stage I and is scheduled to run through March 13.Actor and director David Cromer has received a Tony Award - for direction of The Band’s Visit, , Drama Desk Award, three Obie Awards, three Lucille Lortel Awards, a Joe A. Callaway Award, four Jeff Awards, and in 2010 was made a MacArthur Foundation Fellow.

Legendary director, actor and screenwriter Peter Bogdanovich has died at age 82. He shot to fame with “The Last Picture Show” in 1971, earning an Academy Award nomination in his early 30s. Other films included “Paper Moon,” “Mask,” “Saint Jack” and a long-running project to finish Orson Welles’ “The Other Side of the Wind” in 2019. A tabloid fixture throughout his life, Bogdanovich was introduced to a new generation with a recurring role on “The Sopranos.” He spoke with WAMC in 2011 when he was attending a screening of his film "Daisy Miller" at The Linda.

In May, Kim Senklip Harvey became the first Indigenous playwright to win the Governor General’s Award for English Language Drama for "KAMLOOPA" which is being performed by WAM Theatre in the Berkshires through October 24 and streaming digitally November 1-7. Kamloopa is the largest powwow on the West Coast. This high energy comedy follows two urban Indigenous sisters and their encounter with a lawless trickster, as they explore what it means to honor who they are and where they come from.
