New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed two bills to help farmers. The bills were sponsored by Hudson Valley lawmakers.

One bill ensures that farmers negatively impacted by COVID-19 do not lose their agricultural property tax assessments because of reduced sales. Another bill, also sponsored by Democrats Jen Metzger in the Senate and Aileen Gunther in the Assembly, and in time for seasonal celebrations, provides marketing assistance to promote products widely used in holiday celebrations that are produced by New York farms. This second bill requires the state Department of Agriculture & Markets to provide a listing of New York growers and producers of holiday products to New York vendors and to municipalities where these products are sold.
