Material Shift showcases work by 13 Haudenosaunee artists who employ found objects and other unconventional materials to create or illustrate traditional cultural objects or concepts and those who, conversely, explore traditional materials in unexpected ways. Works range from playful to provocative. These events are made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute of Museum & Library Services, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and friends and members of the Iroquois Museum. Waterfront Wednesdays is Arm-of-the-Sea Theater’s weekly summer performance series at the Tidewater Center, their seasonal cultural arts space based in Saugerties, NY.
