This series of workshops for 18+ will focus on the application of printmaking on clay surfaces. We will learn the techniques of pronto lithography, silkscreen, and monotype using various underglaze recipes.

Learn various basic binding techniques to create several small artist books! Participants will explore accordion and sewing techniques to design frame books, tag books, Japanese four-hole binding, and Japanese butterfly four-needle binding. Proper folding, paper grain direction, and simple tearing, cutting, and sewing will be emphasized to make bookmaking accessible to all levels. We may even get into some pop-up techniques if time allows!

Enjoy the sights, sounds, and views of Overmountain during this sunset sound bath and hike led by Glendy Yeung!
During this program, participants will be invited to deepen their connection to nature and to themselves. With mindful prompts throughout the walk and sound bathing experience, participants will have the opportunity to relax and tune their senses into the natural world.
What’s involved: The first hour of this program includes a .5-mile guided walk on the Kestrel trail over an old road and forested-packed earth. The second hour will include a sunset sound bath at the Kite’s Hill Gazebo. Participants may lay down or sit for this portion of the program, which will include mindful speaking by Glendy Yeung and the use of sound instruments.
What to bring: Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear and bring water and a lawn chair or blanket for sound bathing. Bringing an additional blanket or layers to wear during the sound bath is highly recommended, as temperatures drop as the sun sets!
What not to bring: Please, no dogs.

Students can explore various materials and concepts in small groups through hands-on art-making. By utilizing painting, drawing, and printmaking techniques, students will explore the creation of two-dimensional space, dynamic compositions, layered materials, images, and methods to express themselves and represent what they see in the world around them. 6 sessions on Saturdays May 4, 11, 18, June 1, 8, 15 (no class on May 25)
Let’s come together and care for the land! This month’s volunteer work party will take place at Ooms.
Over the past two months, Build Hudson has been busy building a new boardwalk at Ooms. Construction will be wrapping up soon, and CLC needs help getting the site ready for public events to celebrate this exciting improvement.
All are welcome at this fun, friendly volunteer event.
What’s involved: This volunteer event will include cutting back encroaching brush, removing litter, updating fixtures, and walking over sections of the Pond Loop Trail, which includes mowed grass terrain and sections of boardwalk. Each participant will be matched with work that matches their ability and comfort level.
What to bring: Please bring a water bottle, work gloves, and sunscreen, and wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear. Dogs are welcome to attend, but please bring a bag for waste.
Drawing classes for Grades 5-8. Join our drawing class for aspiring young artists and explore the FUNdamentals of drawing! The class will cover traditional drawing techniques and materials such as pencils, colored pencils, charcoal, pens, and other dry media. Students will practice and learn various drawing skills, such as still life, architectural drawing, and portraiture. Get ready to enhance your drawing skills and unleash your creativity!
