After two and a half years, Berkshire Museum Executive Director Jeff Rodgers has stepped down.

Rodgers – formerly the Provost and Chief Operating Officer at the South Florida Museum – joined the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in April 2019. He took charge of the institution after it made international headlines over a controversial art sale intended to fund a re-envisioning of the museum.

“A place like this deserves to survive and thrive," Rodgers told WAMC in 2019. "You’ve got to figure out a way to pick up on the other side of all of that and move an institution forward. So that’s what I’m here for. I’m not here to look back, I’m here to say, ‘This is a remarkable place with fantastic resources, how do we turn that corner and look towards the future?’”

While the museum’s board begins a national search to find his replacement, interim leadership will be shared by Chief Engagement Officer Hilary Dunne Ferrone, Chief Experience Officer Craig Langlois, and Chief Operating Officer Miriam Kronberg.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
