A city in New York’s Hudson Valley has teamed up with an area college for an air quality initiative.
Kingston is partnering with the Center for the Study of Land, Air and Water at Bard College, which will monitor the city’s air quality. Kingston’s Conservation Advisory Council’s Air Quality Sub-Committee has partnered with Bard Collage to form the Kingston Air Quality Initiative, which has been collecting data since January that will provide baseline information. Initial monitoring efforts are focused on fine particulate matter. Kingston Mayor Steve Noble says it’s the first time the city will have hard data to help drive decisions and policies. Plus, he says, the partnership is crucial to the COVID-19 crisis at hand.
