As temperatures warm, days lengthen, and pollen flies - Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield, Massachusetts hosts its annual Baby Animals Festival. Visitors may visit with and learn about sheep, cows, goats, pigs, and chickens and - very importantly - their adorable young. The festival runs through May 4th.Carrie Holland is the Executive Director and CEO of Hancock Shaker Village and she welcomed me to the grounds to talk about the planned events and exhibitions at the village this Spring and Summer.

Baby Animals at Hancock Shaker Village gives visitors a chance to meet the newest farm babies each Spring - including lambs, piglets, calves, chicks and kids - and enjoy events and activities throughout the Village, from daily talks about the farm and the Shakers to craft demonstrations or walks along the Farm & Forest Trail.

Hancock Shaker Village will throw open the barn doors for the 2023 Baby Animals Festival tomorrow, April 15. Events run through Mother’s Day weekend. Visitors to the village can meet the neighborhood’s newest and noisiest denizens, learn about Shaker heritage and history, witness handcraft demonstrations, and take in new exhibitions in recently updated gallery spaces on the grounds.
