Musicians of Ma’alwyck is teaming up with Excelsior Vocal Ensemble to present Henry Purcell’s “Dido & Aeneas.” The opera continues to mesmerize audiences more than 300 years after its premiere. They pair it with a work by Purcell’s teacher and friend John Blow: “Ode on the Death of Henry Purcell.” Performances are scheduled for Friday, February 20 at 7 p.m. at the Bethesda Episcopal Church in Saratoga Springs, New York and Sunday, February 22 at 3 p.m. at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy, New York.

Actor and musician Jeff Daniels has been in iconic movies such as Terms of Endearment, Dumb and Dumber, Good Night and Good Luck as well as the television series The Newsroom, and starred on Broadway in To Kill a Mockingbird and Blackbird. Daniels comes to the Towne Crier Cafe in Beacon on Sunday to perform his music at 7:30 pm.

Two-time GRAMMY Award-winning Albany Symphony will begin their 2025-2026 season next Saturday, featuring Stravinsky’smagnificent Firebird Suite, Dvořák’s masterful Cello Concerto, the world premiere of Look Up by Alex Berko and Sibelius’s stirring Finlandia.The concert will take place at the historic Palace Theatre in downtown Albany on Saturday, October 11, beginning at 7:30pm. A pre-concert talk by Music Director David Alan Miller will begin at 6:30pm.

Tomorrow night, Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs, New York presents “An Evening with Tituss Burgess.Burgess is a marvelous singer and hilarious actor - with range in more ways than one. His Broadway credits include “Good Vibrations,” “Jersey Boys,” “Guys and Dolls,” and “Moulin Rouge!” In 2008, he originated the role of Sebastian in the Broadway adaptation of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”As for TV: We’ll start with an early credit: a recurring role as D’Fwan on NBC’s “30 Rock.”Burgess then bodied and embodied Titus Andromedon on Netflix’s “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” Andromedon was a talented - though entitled and mostly unmotivated - performer and roommate to Ellie Kemper’s title character. Since breaking out (ahem) on "Unbreakable," Burgess’ career as an on-screen actor, voice actor and host has thrived.
