NHL:
In the NHL playoffs, Montreal completed the series 4-2 over Ottawa 2-0 taking the Habs to the second round and it was Minnesota over St. Louis 4-1 to advance to the second round after completing the series 4-2.
NBA:
In the NBA playoffs, Cleveland swept Boston 101-93 to advance to the second round, Washington is also moving on after sweeping Toronto 125-94, Dallas topped Houston 121-109 pushing the series to 3-1, and it was the Clippers over San Antonio 114-105 evening the series at 2 games apiece.
MLB:
In baseball, in interleague play, the Yankees bested the Mets 6-4.
In the American League, Baltimore crushed the Red Sox 18-7, the White Sox bested Kansas City 5-3, Tampa Bay topped Toronto 5-1, Detroit won against Cleveland 8-6, Texas beat the Angels 5-4 in 11 innings, Houston edged Oakland 7-6, and it was Minnesota over Seattle 4-2 in 11 innings.
In the National League, the Cubs beat Cincinnati 5-2, Philadelphia slid past Atlanta 5-4, Pittsburgh blanked Arizona 8-0, San Diego bested the Dodgers 3-1, Milwaukee doubled up St. Louis 6-3, and it was Miami over Washington 6-2.
The new owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox say they would consider buying state land where they want to build a new ballpark in downtown Providence. In a letter to Governor Gina Raimondo, principal owner James Skeffington says he and Boston Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino want to meet with her soon.
NASCAR:
Kurt Busch dominated once he took the lead and won the rain-delayed NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway. Busch led 291 of the 400 laps and outran Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Kevin Harvick over the final dozen laps. The race was delayed because of rain Saturday night.
Golf:
Justin Rose finished first in the PGA's Zurich Classic in Avondale, Louisiana. Rose shot a final round 6-under-66 to complete play at 22-under, one in front of Cameron Tringale. Boo Weekley was another shot back. To secure the win Rose birdied the final two holes. He has now won at least once in six seasons.
Joe Durant had a hole-in-one and teamed with Billy Andrade to win the Champions Tour's Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf. Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam finished second.
World No. 1 Lydia Ko won the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic for the second straight year, beating Morgan Pressel on the second hole of a playoff. Brooke Henderson, the 17-year-old from Canada, had a 74 and missed the playoff by one shot.
