A  Republican who ran unsuccessfully for Vermont governor in 2014 is running for lieutenant governor.
Travel agency owner Scott Milne lost a gubernatorial bid against then-Democratic Governor Peter Shumlin in 2014.  On Thursday he announced he is seeking the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor.

The Windsor County Republican says incumbent Republican Governor Phil Scott, who announced he is running for a third term on Thursday, needs a fellow Republican in the Lieutenant Governor’s office.  Milne says Montpelier needs leaders that understand the challenges of running a small business and job creation.

At least two other Republicans, three Democrats and one progressive have filed for the August 11th primary.
