AP Calls Vermont Gubernatorial Primaries For Shumlin, Milne

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — The Associated Press has declared Gov. Peter Shumlin the winner of his party's primary, a result that was widely expected and clears the way for the Democrat to seek a third two-year term in November.

Meanwhile, the AP has called the Republican primary for Scott Milne, determining that he has defeated two other candidates — Steve Berry and Emily Peyton, as well as Libertarian Dan Feliciano, who was looking for Republican write-in votes. And it has determined Bill Sorrell is the Democratic nominee for attorney general, beating H. Brook Paige.

The calls were made with 9 of 275 precincts reporting, about 3 percent.
