As New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced expanded COVID-19 vaccine eligibility, he says the state will establish a mass vaccination site in Rockland County.

The state-run site will be at Rockland Community College's fieldhouse and is expected to open this Thursday, April 1. Eligible residents were to be able to begin scheduling appointments via New York's “Am I Eligible” website or by calling the state's COVID-19 vaccination hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829) beginning Tuesday morning. The site will be open every day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. State and local lawmakers had been calling on the state for several weeks to open a permanent site in Rockland, as the closest major state-run sites are across the Hudson River in Westchester County or much farther north.
