New Rochelle Puts On A Parade For Rivera

New Rochelle will celebrate a former resident’s major accomplishments. There’s a parade Saturday for Yankees closer Mariano Rivera, who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown earlier this month.

Rivera, who won five World Series with the Yankees before retiring in 2013, will be honored with a pinstripe parade and rally, and receive the key to the city in a ceremony prior to the parade. The legendary relief pitcher known for his cutter was the first unanimous inductee in National Baseball Hall of Fame history. New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, the city manager and several youth and sports organizations will be on hand to celebrate who they call New Ro’s Mo. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. The one-and-a-half mile parade route begins at New Rochelle City Hall and wraps up at Hudson Park.
