Central Hudson has been approved to develop an energy exchange.
Customers will soon have access to a web-based, energy services platform providing information on energy management and access to third-party products and services. Spokesman John Maserjian says the utility will also develop a Targeted Demand Response Program, offering incentives to homes and businesses in specific, targeted areas to reduce energy use during peak days to help avoid or postpone the future need for system upgrades;
"All part of New York State's Reforming the energy vision or REV"
Central Hudson has also been granted funding and approval to study a potential microgid project at Stewart Airport in Orange County; and there's a proposal before the PSC, for a Community Solar project, a utility-scale solar facility offering electricity to customers, including low income families, at a fixed, competitive rate on a subscription basis for up to 25 years.
