Material Shift showcases work by 13 Haudenosaunee artists who employ found objects and other unconventional materials to create or illustrate traditional cultural objects or concepts and those who, conversely, explore traditional materials in unexpected ways. Works range from playful to provocative. These events are made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute of Museum & Library Services, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and friends and members of the Iroquois Museum. “In one drop of water are found all the secrets of all the oceans.” - Kahlil Gibran
Through this series of monotypes, I explore water as a substance, its metaphoric allusion, and the collective narrative that addresses mankind's complicated relationship to this essential natural resource.

“What is your Abstract? It can be colorful or neutral tones, complicated or simple lines, bold or subdued and everything in between. What does Abstract Art mean to you? Can something that is abstract reference anything at all (landscape, human etc.) or does it need to be completely unrecognizable, referencing nothing but itself?”
Through this open call, we sought work that challenges, redefines, or reaffirms the boundaries of abstraction. Each piece on display reflects an individual response to this question, offering a personal interpretation of what it means to make abstract art today.

Ever wanted to fly through the air with the greatest of ease? Now is your chance! This Friday night weekly drop in class is highly discounted (20$ off 👀) in hopes to make the joy of flying trapeze more accessible. Wanting a smaller faster paced class? Checkout the Saturday drop in class! This class is for flyers at every level of ability and experience—whether you’ve never tried flying trapeze before, or you’re working on taking tricks out of lines. Beginning students will learn how to take off from the platform, perform fundamental trapeze tricks, and begin working on the ‘swing’—the bread and butter of flying trapeze. More experienced flyers will continue to work on fundamentals and on advancing their trick vocabulary. In the last half hour of class, flyers who are ready will be able to take their tricks across to a catcher (one of their coaches) swinging from a second trapeze. Prerequisites: None! The only prerequisite for this class is age. This class is for students ages seven and up.
Music, Dance, Songs, and Stories to Drive the Dark Away! Welcome Yule’s 41st annual mid-winter celebration includes music, dance, songs, and stories to drive the dark away. This multi-generational celebration of the turning of the year is a joyful passing of traditions through the generations. The show opens with families gathered in a cozy English pub, reveling in the deep winter while looking forward to the coming of the light in the new year. As the heart of winter is acknowledged, the magical Abbotts Bromley Horn Dance will inspire the transfer of traditions as the skill and eagerness of the younger community members shine. Singing, dancing, and mumming by the cast – and even some lucky audience members - will fill the theater with smiles. Please sing along with us and don’t forget to touch the Yule log with your sprig of holly for a whole year’s worth of good luck.

Both Spears and Geruso are economists, demographers, and associate professors at the University of Texas at Austin.
Come by and enjoy a performance by the DCC and Academy of Music Chorus. Free and open to the public.
This year's theme, Mostly Classical Christmas, will feature a wide range of familiar and new holiday songs. To help celebrate, the choir will be joined by guest artists Brian Hoffman, Organist and Lauren Nash Silberstein, Soprano.
As a concert organist, Mr. Hoffman has performed hundreds of concerts in the United States, including solo performances at St. Patrick's Cathedral NYC and on “the world’s largest organ in a sacred space” the 380-rank organ at West Point Cadet Chapel. His most recent project, begun during the pandemic of 2020, is the recordings of the complete organ works of J.S. Bach on organs from around the world via the Hauptwerk program.
Lauren Nash Silberstein recently made her role debut as Gilda in Verdi's "Rigoletto" with The Druid City Opera and portrayed Julie Jordan in Carousel at First Coast Opera in Florida. In Spring of 2025, She received First Prize in both the Opera Connecticut Vocal Competition and the Mendelssohn Club's Joel Dolven Vocal Competition-Advanced Division. Returning to her hometown in 2024, Lauren enjoyed being a part of Opera Saratoga's concert series and English production. In October 2022 Lauren was the recipient of the four-figure Bedřich Smetana Award from the American International Czech and Slovak Competition.
Since its inception in 1909, the Mendelssohn Club chorus has become the longest continuously performing arts group in the Capital District of New York State.
