Zankel Music Center

  • The Mostly Modern Festival returns to Saratoga Springs for its fifth season from June 6th – 21st at the Arthur Zankel Music Center on the Skidmore College campus. Co-founded by the husband-and-wife team, composer Robert Paterson and violinist Victoria Paterson, the festival emphasizes modern classical music, paired with outstanding repertoire from the 20th century.
  • Beat Scientist, Drummer and Producer Makaya McCraven will perform at The Zankel Center at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York on Saturday, February 17. In advance of that exciting concert, on Thursday, February 15, Makaya will be in conversation with Skidmore Angus McCullough at The Tang Teaching Museum. Makaya McCraven's latest album, "In These Times," is the triumphant finale of a project 7+ years in the making.
  • On Sunday afternoon, January 14, at 4:00 PM in Zankel Hall at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, The Battenkill Chorale will present “From Light to Night” featuring John Rutter’s “Requiem” scored for chorus, soprano solo, and chamber ensemble.Gene Marie Callahan is the conductor and Artistic Director. She was the organist and choir director for the First Congregational Church (Old First Church) in Bennington, Vermont, and is a Lecturer in Creative Arts at Siena College where she directs the chorus and teaches Basics of Singing.
  • On Friday, November 10 Tank and the Bangas will perform at the Zankel Music Center at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, and the night before, Tarriona “Tank” Ball will read from her debut poetry collection “Vulnerable AF” in the Payne Room at The Tang, also of course, on the Skidmore Campus.
  • Saratoga Performing Arts Center and Skidmore College are presenting trailblazing pianist, speaker and NPR’s Amplify co-host, Lara Downes for a special appearance on April 14, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. at the Arthur Zankel Music Center. Downes’ performance explores the landscape of American music from George Gershwin and Morton Gould to Billie Holiday, Scott Joplin, and Florence Price, giving voice to underrepresented and forgotten artists alongside their contemporaries. Downes will return to Saratoga on August 4th, 2022 for her SPAC debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra where she’ll perform two premieres: The Strayhorn Concerto and Price’s Piano Concerto in One Movement.
