Bedlam is a NYC based theatre company founded in 2012 by presenting George Bernard Shaw’s Saint Joan on a shoestring budget with only four actors playing over 25 characters.Bedlam’s current production is “The Assassination of Julius Caesar as told by William Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw.”

On Saturday August 26 and Sunday August 27 at 8 p.m., The Tanglewood Learning Institute presents the play “American Moor” in Studio E at The Linde Center.Keith Hamilton Cobb's award-winning 2-person play explores the American Black Male experience via Shakespeare’s "Othello." The artists who originated the off-Broadway production created this version specially for Tanglewood's Studio E. The production is directed by Kim Weild.

Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival's 2023 summer season will feature productions of Shakespeare’s “Henry V” and “Love’s Labor’s Lost” in rep and the World Premiere of a new musical by Alex Bechtel, Grace McLean and Eva Steinmetz entitled “Penelope” - an adaptation of Homer’s “Odyssey” from the point of view of Odysseus’ waiting wife.

James Ijames is a playwright, director, and educator. His play “Fat Ham” opened at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway last night. Ijames won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Drama for the work which is inspired by Shakespeare’s "Hamlet" but transfers the action to a family barbecue in the American South.The main character, Juicy, is a queer college kid, already grappling with some serious questions of identity, when the ghost of his father shows up in their backyard, demanding that Juicy avenge his murder.“Fat Ham,” a New York Times Critics Pick, is directed by Saheem Ali and is presented by The Public Theatre and National Black Theatre.

This summer, the Hudson Valley Shakespeare festival presents a trio of shows in its open-air tent overlooking the Hudson River, including an age-blind production of “Romeo & Juliet,” “Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play,” which takes its inspiration from “The Simpsons,” and “Where We Belong” - an intimate solo performance by Mohegan writer-director-actor Madeline Sayet.This season’s performances are being performed on the festival's iconic open air tent - but on their new grounds in Garrison, NY.Davis McCallum is the Artistic Director of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival and he joins us now to share more details about these exciting productions.
