In 2015, ESYO – Empire State Youth Orchestra - launched CHIME in Schenectady to address fundamental inequities preventing universal access to high level music opportunities for youth. Today, the free after school program serves more than one hundred K-12 students in partnership with Capital Region school districts.On December 12th ESYO will present their CHIME Holiday Concert for the community at the Schenectady High School at 5:30.Becky Calos, Executive Director of ESYO, and Zoë Auerbach CHIME & Young Leaders Director at ESYO are here with a preview.

Empire State Youth Orchestra’s Symphony Orchestra will return to Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. with a concert that celebrates spring. They’ll perform Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” and Li Huanzhi’s “Spring Festival Orchestra.” This concert will also feature Yu-Heng Wang, one of ESYO’s two 2023 Lois Lyman Concerto Competition winners, performing Bartok's Viola Concerto.

The ESYO season begins on Sunday, October 30th at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall with ESYO's flagship Symphony Orchestra performing Beethoven's 7th Symphony; a work Beethoven described as the "glory of light through darkness." The concert also features Gabriella Smith's Field Guide, a musical safari into the natural world, as well as surprising percussion interventions in the Beethoven Symphony and a student-led instant composition.

This Sunday, June 12, at 3pm - The Empire State Youth Orchestra will perform a very special concert at Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA.ESYO’s new Music Director and Conductor Etienne Abelin and the Symphony Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s Egmont Overture alongside Arturo Márquez's Danzón No. 2. And Fabrizio Cassol's Concerto Grosso for DJ/Electronics, Cello, Saxophone, and Orchestra is the centerpiece of the concert.
