You probably recognize Jerry Adler as a character actor from TV and movies, with roles on projects like “The West Wing,” “Manhattan Murder Mystery,” and “The Sopranos,” where he played Tony’s longtime associate Hesh. Adler’s book is called “Too Funny For Words: Backstage Tales From Broadway, Television and The Movies,” in which he covers the many ups and downs of a life in the klieg lights and far from them.

The world’s oceans just keep getting hotter. International analysis published in the journal Advances in Atmospheric Sciences finds that the oceans stored more heat in 2025 than in any year since modern measurements began.

Global surface temperature is the average temperature of the Earth’s surface at a given time. Our country has a deep political divide over wind and solar renewable energy sources. Generally, Democrats are in favor of them, and Republicans are against them. The current administration is doing whatever it can to stop the growth of wind and solar power despite that they involve nearly $100 billion in US investments and nearly 500,000 jobs.

The Trump administration broadly opposes renewable energy. The so-called Big Beautiful Bill gutted green energy subsidies and the administration has been systematically cutting back on clean energy programs including essentially bringing American offshore wind energy development to a halt. Their overall policy position is that climate change is not a serious problem and that fossil fuels are the way to go.

In mid-March, the final turbine blades of Vineyard Wind, the offshore wind farm sited 15 miles south of Nantucket, were installed. Vineyard Wind is the first large-scale offshore wind project in the U.S. The $4.5 billion project features 62 turbines and is capable of providing clean energy to approximately 400,000 homes.
