The Exchange is a NYC based arts institution committed to the to creation of bold new work. Their Orchard Project has made its way to our region.
Over 25 projects will be developed in the various residencies of The Orchard Project in Saratoga Springs this month. It also marks the first-ever Orchard Project Presents season, a series of public performances that will take place at Universal Preservation Hall as well as at venues around Saratoga Springs.
The series will feature events every week in June, including Sneak Peeks, Cabarets and Concerts, and an Open Studio Week. Events are already underway and will conclude with an intimate concert with Tony Award winning actor, singer, and writer Alan Cumming. We get a look now with Ari Edelson - artistic director of The Exchange and founder of The Orchard.
Albany Pro Musica’s sixth annual “Pops! Goes the Chorus” cabaret once again fills the historic Shaker Meeting House in Colonie with show tunes, old standards and other popular songs on Friday and Saturday nights, June 5th and 6th.
The title of this year’s concert is “Modern Traditions – A Salute to Contemporary Jewish Music” - and along that theme, contemporary Jewish composer, Noah Aronson will be on hand to perform solo and with the chorus. Noah’s music is now sung in progressive communities worldwide and has been included as part of the cantorial curriculum at the Hebrew Union College Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music.
Founded in 1915, Seagle Music Colony is the oldest summer vocal training program in the United States, located in the town of Schroon Lake in the Adirondack Mountain Region of upstate New York.
Their summer program is a nine-week session in which 32 young artists selected through a rigorous national audition/selection process, receive intensive training in vocal technique, musicality, acting and career preparation. As part of this training, they produce six full-scale productions of opera and musical theatre each summer season for presentation to the public.
This summer Seagle Music Colony celebrates 100 years and here to tell us more is General Director, Tony Kostecki.
