Scenic Hudson Preserves Acreage In Ulster County

Courtesy of Scenic Hudson

An environmental group in the Hudson Valley has struck a land deal that protects nearly 40 acres in Ulster County.

Poughkeepsie-based Scenic Hudson has protected 38 acres adjacent to the Illinois Mountain preserve in Lloyd. Located on Illinois Mountain’s ridge top — the highest point of the Marlboro Mountain chain—the wooded land is visible from many public viewpoints in Ulster and Dutchess counties, including Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park, the Mid-Hudson Bridge and Poughkeepsie’s Waryas Park. Like the 242 acres Scenic Hudson previously protected on the mountain, the property will be made available for recreation. The land preservation is part of Scenic Hudson’s Saving the Land That Matters Most campaign.
