Rockland Legislators Host Enviro Groups For Crude Oil Forum

wikipedia

Two environmental groups will be in Rockland County Monday evening to talk about risks from crude oil transport through the Hudson Valley.

Rockland County Legislature Chairman Alden Wolfe and Legislator Harriet Cornell, who is chairwoman of the Environmental Committee, invited Riverkeeper and Scenic Hudson to present information about the rise in rail and river transport of volatile crude oil through the Hudson Valley; to talk about the specific risks facing Rockland County and neighboring communities; and to learn about resources for first responders. Attendees also will learn about what Scenic Hudson officials say are growing risks associated with proposed expansion of Global Partners’ Hudson River oil terminals in New Windsor and Albany. The public forum is Monday evening from 7-to-8:30 in the Rockland legislative chambers in New City.
