A HAZMAT exercise is taking place Saturday morning in Orange County.
Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus will observe an exercise drill of the county’s Hazardous Materials Response Team beginning at 9 a.m. Neuhaus will offer remarks at the start of 25-person exercise scheduled to be held at the Orange County Fire Training Center in New Hampton. The HAZMAT drill will encompass two scenarios, a tanker railcar leak and a clandestine lab incident. The county’s emergency services commissioner and first responders will accompany the county executive. Then on Monday there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new firefighter training building at the Fire Training Center.
