Funding Goes Toward Repaving Runways At Stewart

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey

Elected officials say an airport in Orange County will receive funding to upgrade its runways.

Stewart International Airport in New Windsor is receiving more than $1.8 million in Federal Aviation Administration funding to repave and rehabilitate the airport’s two runways. Democratic Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney announced the funding along with Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus and New Windsor Town Supervisor George Green. All say the runway work will create jobs now and hopefully attract increased traffic to the airport when the work is finished. The funding will cover 90% of the total project cost and be used to repair and repave close to 12,000 feet of pavement on one runway and 6,000 feet on another.
