The City of Schenectady will host a series of community workshops on addressing flooding in the city’s historic Stockade neighborhood.
The Stockade, beside the Mohawk River, is prone to flooding, with ice jams last year causing flooding that forced the evacuation of some residents.
Mayor Gary McCarthy says workshops set for early next month will guide the Stockade Flood Mitigation Project, which is supported by funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program through the New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
The meetings are set for April 1st, 3rd, and 4th at the First Reformed Church on North Street. Each meeting will run from 7 to 9 p.m.
