Troy Police have arrested Jahquay Brown of Cohoes for murder in the drive-by shooting death of 11-year-old Ayshawn Davis on September 13.

Police say a handgun believed to be used in the shooting was found after a search warrant was executed at Brown’s home.

The shooting on Old 6th Avenue led to thousands of dollars in rewards being offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect. Those offering money included the FBI, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office and Trustco Bank.

Troy Police say the investigation continues, and thanked other area law enforcement, specifically the New York State Police, for their help.

“I cannot express enough, the pride and gratitude we feel for the dogged and determined work of the Officers, Detectives and fellow law enforcement agencies that made this arrest possible,” said Troy Deputy Chief of Police Daniel DeWolf in a statement.

Troy Mayor Patrick Madden said he was relieved to learn of the arrest.

“I extend my sincerest thanks to the entire Troy Police Department—from detectives, patrol, evidence technicians, and command staff—and local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, specifically the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit, for their assistance on this case,” Madden said in a statement. “Considerable resources and support were brought to this investigation that were critical in today’s arrest. To Ayshawn’s parents, brothers, sisters, and extended family: I know that this does not repair the hole that has been torn in your lives. But I do hope that you take some measure of comfort in this development as we work to bring those responsible for Ayshawn’s death to earthly justice.”
