  • Beat Scientist, Drummer and Producer Makaya McCraven will perform at The Zankel Center at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York on Saturday, February 17. In advance of that exciting concert, on Thursday, February 15, Makaya will be in conversation with Skidmore Angus McCullough at The Tang Teaching Museum. Makaya McCraven's latest album, "In These Times," is the triumphant finale of a project 7+ years in the making.
  • The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College kicks off its spring semester this week with two events: the seventh-annual Winter/Miller Lecture on Thursday and a spring opening reception on Saturday.The Winter/Miller Lecture features acclaimed multimedia artist Mickalene Thomas. She is known for her monumental portraits of Black women that critique standard ideas about beauty, race, and gender. Her work has been shown at museums around the world, including at the Tang. The Lecture is at 6pm on Thursday.
  • On Friday, November 10 Tank and the Bangas will perform at the Zankel Music Center at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, and the night before, Tarriona “Tank” Ball will read from her debut poetry collection “Vulnerable AF” in the Payne Room at The Tang, also of course, on the Skidmore Campus.
  • A new exhibition now open at the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College is Parallax: Framing the Cosmos.
  • We learn this morning about "Radical Fiber: Threads Connecting Art and Science," a new exhibition at the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College which explores the influence fiber arts have had on areas of sciences as diverse as digital technology, mathematics, medicine, and neuroscience. The exhibit runs through June 12. To tell us more, we welcome Tang Associate Curator Rebecca McNamara, who is the curator of the exhibition Radical Fiber and Sara Lagalwar, a Skidmore professor of Neuroscience who is one of the faculty consultants on the exhibition and who has been bringing her neuroscience students to the exhibition.
