To help improve its response to clergy sex abuse allegations, the Diocese of Springfield, Massachusetts is conducting an online survey.



        A retired state judge hired by the Diocese of Springfield to investigate a claim of sexual abuse by the late Bishop Christopher Weldon issued his report today. 


    A task force has been announced to look at the response to sexual abuse within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield. 


There is a new agreement between the Springfield Roman Catholic Diocese and prosecutors about the procedures for reporting sex abuse allegations against church employees.

Albany Bishop Edward Scharfenberger will serve as interim administrator for the troubled Buffalo Diocese after embattled Bishop Richard Malone’s resignation. Scharfenberger returned from Buffalo Thursday afternoon. The bishop will be making the commute regularly.

New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood has stepped up her office's investigation into the Roman Catholic church's handling of sex abuse allegations.

New Yorkers who were molested as children have joined lawmakers at an Albany rally to push for lifting the state's statute of limitations on suing abusers, saying the law closing the window at age 23 guarantees repeated victims.


The spiritual leader of Roman Catholics in western Massachusetts offered a broad apology today to people wounded by the clergy sex abuse scandal, to those embittered by church closings, and to people who were alienated from the church over racial and cultural differences or sexual orientation.
