BASEBALL HALL OF FAME
Former Detroit Tigers teammates Jack Morris and Alan Trammell have been elected to the baseball Hall of Fame.
Morris and Trammell were chosen Sunday by a 16-man panel that considered candidates from the sport's modern era.
Morris posted 254 wins. The right-hander's most famous victory was a 10-inning shutout, winning 1-0 for Minnesota over Atlanta in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series.
Trammell was a six-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glover at shortstop. He scored 1,231 runs and drove in 1,003 while batting .285.
Trammell and Morris teamed to help the Tigers win the 1984 World Series.
Former catcher Ted Simmons fell one vote short of election and former players' union head Marvin Miller was five shy of the 12 needed for election.
NFL-SCHEDULE
Tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup is the New England Patriots against the Miami Dolphins at 8:30 p.m.
The Philadelphia Eagles were able to wrap up the NFC East title on Sunday, but they now face the prospect of spending the rest of the season and the playoffs without their starting quarterback.
Carson Wentz threw for 291 yards and four touchdowns before leaving with a knee injury late in the third quarter of Philadelphia's 43-35 win over the Rams at Los Angeles. Two sources familiar with the injury tell The Associated Press that doctors believe Wentz tore his left anterior cruciate ligament and will be out until training camp. That would leave the offense in the hands of Nick Foles, who led the Eagles on a fourth-quarter comeback as they improved to a conference-leading 11-2.
Jake Elliott kicked the go-ahead 33-yard field goal with 3:45 left, his fourth 3-pointer of the game. He also hit a 41-yarder after Todd Gurley's second TD run put the Rams ahead 35-31 early in the fourth quarter.
Jared Goff threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns in his first game against Wentz, 20 months after they were selected 1-2 in the NFL draft.
The Rams fell to 9-4 and still lead the NFC West by one game over Seattle.
Pittsburgh was the other NFL team to clinch a division crown on Sunday.
Chris Boswell booted a 46-yard field goal with 42 seconds left to complete the Steelers' fourth-quarter comeback in a 39-38 triumph over the Ravens. Pittsburgh trailed by 11 in the fourth quarter and by nine with 3 ½ minutes left until Le'Veon Bell Bell ran 11 yards for a TD. Bell had 125 yards rushing, and Ben Roethlisberger became the first quarterback with three games of at least 500 passing yards. Roethlisberger finished with 506 and two touchdown throws as the Steelers improved to 11-2.
Javorius Allen scored two touchdowns for the 7-6 Ravens.

— The Panthers won a battle of division leaders. Jonathan Stewart rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns as Carolina ended the Vikings' eight-game winning streak 31-24. Cam Newton threw for 137 yards and a touchdown while providing 75 of the Panthers' 216 rushing yards. Carolina has a one-game lead over New Orleans in the NFC South at 9-4, while the 10-3 Vikings are still a win away from wrapping up the NFC North crown.
— Philip Rivers passed for 319 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers' seventh win in nine games since an 0-4 start, 30-13 over the Redskins. Tyrell Williams caught a 75-yard touchdown pass and Hunter Henry supplied another scoring grab for the 7-6 Chargers. Rivers had 256 passing yards for Los Angeles, which is tied with Kansas City atop the AFC West at 7-6.
— The Chiefs halted a four-game skid and won for just the second time in their last eight games by silencing Oakland, 26-15, dropping the 6-7 Raiders one game off the AFC West lead. Kareem Hunt ran for 116 yards and a touchdown, while Alex Smith threw for 268 yards. Kansas City blanked Oakland until Marshawn Lynch's 22-yard touchdown run with 8:51 to go.
— The Jaguars intercepted three passes by Russell Wilson and won for the sixth time in their last seven games to take over the AFC South lead, 30-24 against Seattle. Blake Bortles threw two perfect passes for touchdowns and Jaydon Mickens set up another score with a 72-yard punt return to help Jacksonville improved to 9-4, one game ahead of Tennessee. Bortles threw an 18-yard TD pass to rookie Dede Westbrook and a deep pass that hit Keelen Cole in stride for a 75-yard score.
— Phil Dawson drilled four second-half field goals and the Cardinals dropped the Titans a game behind the Jags by holding off Tennessee 12-7. Blaine Gabbert completed 17 of 26 for 178 yards and no interceptions, but was sacked eight times, most by a Cardinals quarterback this season. Marcus Mariota threw a pair of second-half interceptions and the Titans managed just 65 yards rushing in slipping to 8-5.
— Matthew Stafford made his 109th consecutive start and passed for 381 yards despite an injured throwing hand before Matt Prater's 46-yard field goal lifted the Lions past the Buccaneers 24-21. Stafford completed 36 of 44 attempts for the 7-6 Lions, hitting Golden Tate for a five-yard touchdown in between scoring runs by Theo Riddick. The Bucs scored two TDs in the fourth quarter to erase a 21-7 deficit before dropping to 4-9.
— The Packers improved their fading playoff hopes and kept the Browns winless on Brett Hundley's 25-yard scoring strike to Davante Adams in overtime, giving Green Bay a 27-21 victory at Cleveland. Adams also grabbed a one-yard TD toss that tied the game with 17 seconds left in regulation before Hundley finished 35 of 46 for 265 yards and three touchdowns for the 7-6 Packers. DeShone Kizer threw for three touchdowns but was intercepted just before the game-ending TD that dropped the Browns to 0-13.
— The Bills also won in overtime as LeSean McCoy's 21-yard scoring run with 1:33 left in the extra period completed a 13-6 victory against Indianapolis. Playing on a snow-covered field and under whiteout conditions at times, McCoy finished with 156 yards rushing and topped the 1,000-yard mark for the sixth time. Nathan Peterman threw for 57 yards, one TD and no interceptions before suffering a concussion in the third period, causing Joe Webb to finish the game for the 7-6 Bills.
— Dallas and the Giants were tied 10-10 with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter before Dak Prescott threw his second and third touchdown passes of the afternoon to lead the Cowboys to a 30-10 win at the Meadowlands. Jason Witten provided the go-ahead, 20-yard TD catch before Rod Smith turned a short pass into an 81-yard score for the 7-6 Cowboys. Eli Manning returned to the Giants' starting lineup and was 31 of 46 for 228 yards and a touchdown, but he threw two late interceptions as New York fell to 2-11.
— Demaryius Thomas had eight receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown as the Broncos blanked the Jets 23-0 to stop an eight-game losing streak. Trevor Siemian had 200 passing yards for Denver, which ended its longest losing skid in 50 years. The Broncos' defense gave up just 100 total yards and knocked quarterback Josh McCown from the game twice by hard hits.
— The Bengals destroyed their slim playoff hopes by dropping a 33-7 decision to the Bears. Jordan Howard ran for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the 4-9 Bears dropped Cincinnati to 5-8. Chicago piled up a season-high 482 yards, while rookie Mitchell Trubisky threw for a touchdown and ran for another in his best showing of the season.
— Jimmy Garoppolo is 2-0 as the 49ers' starting quarterback after passing for a career-high 334 yards and a touchdown in a 26-16 win at Houston. Garoppolo broke a 16-16 tie by hitting Garrett Celek for a six-yard TD late in the third quarter, a few plays after Celek hauled in a 61-yard pass. T.J. Yates threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns for the 4-9 Texans after Tom Savage left with a concussion in the second quarter.
NBA-SCHEDULE
The Boston Celtics avenged one of their five losses this season while also bouncing back from Friday's setback at San Antonio.
Al Horford had 18 points and Kyrie Irving added 16 as the Celts downed the slumping Pistons 91-81 to improve to 23-5. Boston held Detroit to a season low in points and forced the Pistons to miss two-thirds of their shots. Reggie Jackson was the worst of the Pistons' shooters, going 0-for-9 from the field and scoring his two points at the line.
Detroit has lost six straight for the first time since late in the 2014-15 season.
In Sunday's other NBA action:
— Victor Oladipo poured in a career-high 47 points while also contributing seven boards and six assists to the Pacers' fourth straight win, 126-116 against the Nuggets in overtime. Indiana closed regulation on an 8-0 run and scored the first nine of OT.
— Toronto picked up its sixth win in a row as DeMar DeRozan scored 13 of his 25 points in the third quarter of a 102-87 victory against the Kings. Kyle Lowry added 15 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in helping the Raptors knock off Sacramento for the first time in their last five meetings.
— Karl-Anthony Towns had 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Timberwolves' 97-92 decision over Dallas. Jimmy Butler scored 10 of his 22 in the fourth quarter for Minnesota.
— Jrue Holiday scored 19 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Pelicans' 131-124 win against the 76ers. Anthony Davis added 29 points and DeMarcus Cousins had 23 for New Orleans, which trailed by eight in the final period.
— Kristaps Porzingis scored 30 points and the Knicks rebounded from their road loss to Chicago by squeezing out a 111-107 triumph over the Hawks. Doug McDermott added 23 points off the bench as New York climbed back to .500 and moved into a third-place tie with the 76ers in the Atlantic Division.

TOP 25 MEN'S BASKETBALL
Unbeaten heading into last week, the second-ranked Kansas Jayhawks are now in danger of falling out of the top 10 following back-to-back losses.
Tra Holder scored 29 points on 8-for-16 shooting to lead No. 16 Arizona State past the Jayhawks 95-85 at Allen Fieldhouse. Shannon Evans II had 22 points and Remy Martin added 21 for the 9-0 Sun Devils, who have given Kansas its first losing streak in four years.
Lagerald Vick led Kansas with 25 points, but Svi Mykhailiuk shot just 3-for-14 and failed to score any of his 14 points until the final six minutes.

— No. 4 Villanova is still unbeaten at 10-0 after Phil Booth and Donte DiVincenzo each scored 18 points to guide the Wildcats to a 77-68 win over city rival La Salle. Booth put 'Nova ahead with three free throws and followed with an assist on DiVincenzo's 3-pointer that made it 67-62.
— No. 12 Gonzaga rolled to a 97-70 win over Washington behind Johnathan Williams' 23 points and 12 boards. The 8-2 Bulldogs also received 21 points from Zach Norvell.
— Matt Painter earned his 300th coaching victory as Carsen Edwards scored a career-high 27 points to lead No. 21 Purdue past IUPUI 86-61.
NHL-SCHEDULE
The St. Louis Blues have expanded their lead in the NHL's Central Division, moved into the top spot in the Western Conference and tied the Tampa Bay Lightning for league's best point total by winning on Sunday.
Vladimir Tarasenko scored at 4:25 of overtime to lift the Blues over the Sabres 3-2. Brayden Schenn and Paul Stastny also scored, and Joel Edmundson recorded two assists as St. Louis topped Buffalo for the 10th time in their last 11 meetings.
Jake Allen made 22 saves for the Blues, allowing only a pair of goals by Evan Rodrigues.
St. Louis tops its division by four points over Nashville.
Elsewhere on NHL ice:
— Third-period goals by Tommy Wingels, Artem Anisimov and Nick Schmaltz led the Blackhawks past the Coyotes 3-1. Corey Crawford turned back 31 shots and Patrick Kane had two assists in Chicago's second straight win since a five-game skid.
— The Maple Leafs were 1-0 winners over the Oilers as Curtis McElhinney stopped 41 shots in his first shutout of the season. Neither team scored after Zach Hyman's goal in the opening minute.
— The Wild knocked off the Sharks 4-3 on Nino Niederreiter's goal 3:26 into overtime. Eric Staal scored twice and Ryan Murphy added a goal in Minnesota's fourth straight victory over San Jose.
NHL-BLUES-SCHWARTZ
The Blues will spend at least six weeks without Jaden Schwartz because of a right ankle injury suffered in the first period of Saturday's game against Detroit. Schwartz was tied for ninth in the NHL with 35 points on 14 goals and 21 assists, including a goal in Saturday's 6-1 victory. He also ranks second in the league with a plus-23 rating.
MLB-CARDINALS-GREGERSON
A person familiar with the negotiations says the Cardinals are adding Luke Gregerson to their bullpen by working out a two-year, $11 million package with the right-hander.
Gregerson just helped the Astros win the World Series, going 2-3 with a career-worst 4.57 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 61 innings. He did not allow a run in his five postseason appearances.
