Some 112,000 homes, hospitals, schools and commercial buildings in New York state have completed or begun energy efficiency projects through state programs intended to encourage clean energy.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the total Wednesday. It includes 90,000 homes and 22,000 apartment buildings, hospitals, schools and commercial sites.
All told, the projects will save consumers $341 million in annual energy costs.
Cuomo, a Democrat, says the numbers represent "tremendous progress" in making the state's energy systems greener and more efficient.
The state says the reduction in emissions associated with the projects is the equivalent of taking 168,000 cars off the road.
