New York's governor is planning upcoming trade trips to Italy and China.

Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo tells reporters that he's tentatively planning the Italy trip for May. The junket to China is scheduled for November. The administration has not yet released specific dates or locations for the visits.

Cuomo says he hopes to invite economic leaders from around the state to join him. The journeys are intended to strengthen the state's business and cultural ties with the two countries.

The governor has made similar trips to Cuba, Puerto Rico, Israel and the Dominican Republic.
