Last week, the Massachusetts Senate approved its version of a proposed fiscal year 2022 budget. The nearly $48 billion plan heads next to a conference committee to reconcile it with the House’s proposal. Western Massachusetts Democratic State Senator Adam Hinds is the Chairperson of the Joint Committee on Revenue. He spoke with WAMC about the Senate budget, what happened to fears of the pandemic reducing state income by billions, and how the plan addresses inequality.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
