Tanglewood Unveils Linde Center's Opening Weekend Celebration

Boston Symphony Orchestra

Tanglewood has announced details of the opening weekend for its new year-round space.

The Linde Center For Music and Learning will be the home for the Tanglewood Learning Institute, the first major expansion of the Lenox, Massachusetts cultural center’s programming since 1937. The TLI will offer over 140 programs year-round for audiences in the Berkshires and around the world.

“We have 103, 104 buildings at Tanglewood," said Mark Volpe, Managing Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. "These are the four that are actually winterized. So we’ll be able to have activity through the course of the year.”

From June 28th to July 1st, the center will celebrate its opening with music, workshops, and more, including an appearance by legendary composer John Williams.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
