Tanglewood has unveiled the first round of events at its new educational undertaking.

The Tanglewood Learning Institute will be housed in the campus’s new Linde Center For Music and Learning Complex, the venerable Lenox, Massachusetts venue’s first year-round buildings. The institute and the buildings are scheduled to open in late June. Inaugural TLI director Sue Elliott says its programming will be diverse.

“From behind the scenes preparation for the wonderful performances that Tanglewood audiences have come to know and love through to keynote speakers and very unconventional, avant-garde performances,” she told WAMC.

The roster of speakers includes former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, composer John Williams, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and more.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
