The candidates for mayor of Pittsfield are facing off in the first debate since the preliminary election in September. WAMC’s Berkshire Bureau Chief Jim Levulis is moderating the debate.Mayor Dan Bianchi and City Clerk Linda Tyer will answer questions focused largely on neighborhood development and public safety during a debate at Conte Community School Thursday. The West Side Initiative is hosting the debate.
Bianchi and Tyer are competing for Pittsfield’s first four-year mayoral term thanks to a recent charter change. Tyer got 55 percent of September’s preliminary votes. Bianchi received 39 percent.
The hour-long debate starts at 6 p.m. Pittsfield Community Television will air the debate at 9 p.m. Friday.
