Marijuana Legalization Advocates Hold Meeting In Brattleboro

wikipedia commons

Vermont marijuana growers and advocates gathered earlier this week to discuss proposed legislation that would legalize recreational use of the drug in the state.

The meeting in Brattleboro was called by advocacy groups Vermont Cannabis Collaborative and Vermont Home Grown in conjunction with Senator Jeanette White.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports White, a Windham Democrat, has promised to help write a bill for the upcoming session.

White says the meeting was held to gauge public interest on the issue and many growers shared concerns about not being left behind when the production and sale of marijuana becomes legal.

Senator David Zuckerman introduced a legalization bill in 2015, but White said she plans on working on new legislation in November.

White supports Vermonters growing marijuana for personal use without taxation.
