In New York, the Ulster County executive has created an Innovation Team.

Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan says the new team includes the county’s first Director of Innovation, and he has appointed Tim Weidemann, who was the assistant county executive. Ryan says Weidemann will focus on working with county department heads, local government leaders, nonprofit executives and businesses to re-evaluate ways to deliver public goods and services. The team will focus on using data, research and best practices to help drive improved outcomes related to county services. Ryan had touted making county government more responsive and responsible as one of his big five priorities during his first term.
