Ulster County Sexual Assault Prevention Program Expands

A sexual assault prevention program that Ulster County, New York, launched earlier this year is expanding.

The Ulster County Bystanders Against Sexual Assault program that debuted in the college town of New Paltz in January is launching in Kingston. Ulster County Executive Mike Hein says the initiative empowers owners and employees of bars and places that serve alcohol to recognize warning signs and intervene in potential sexual assaults. The program has trained five establishments and more than 40 employees. Places that complete training receive a certificate designed to make patrons aware that the establishment cares about preventing sexual assault.
