The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater is slated to set sail Saturday in the name of renewable energy.
The special sail departs from Cold Spring, in Putnam County at 3 p.m. The sail will benefit Clearwater’s legal battle against the New York state Public Service Commission to end up to $7.6 billion in ratepayer subsidies for upstate nuclear plants under the Clean Energy Standard.
In January, the New York State Supreme Court rejected motions to dismiss the lawsuit against the PSC and nuclear plant owners. Clearwater and others brought the suit in 2016.
