Vital records in Kingston will soon be digital. The city was awarded a grant that will help preserve records for generations to come.
Kingston Mayor Steve Noble says the city’s efforts will include scanning and preserving such records as birth, death and marriage certificates. The first phase of the project will focus on the most recent 50 years of documents, and be split into two batches for scanning. The first batch will include marriage records from 1960–2009 and death certificates from 1967-2017. The second batch will include birth certificates from 1967-2017. During this processing time, the records will be off site and unavailable at city hall. Anyone who needs these records should submit their requests to the state Department of Health.
