New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Thursday announced that the state will invest $8 million for upgrades at the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center in Ulster County.

The funding will go toward the installation of a new, high-speed, gondola lift as well as lodge expansions and improvements. Cuomo says the project will provide a boost to tourism in the Catskills and the region's economy. His 2018 executive budget includes $12.5 million for Olympic Regional Development Authority facilities, including Belleayre. In January, Cuomo announced the state will invest up to $20 million for upgrades at Whiteface and Gore Mountains, which, along with the $8 million for Belleayre, are being added to the budget as part of the 30-day amendments, which were submitted Thursday.
