Elected Officials Will Bag Groceries To Raise Awareness Of Hunger

A number of elected officials in the Hudson Valley plan to draw attention to national Hunger Action Month by lending a hand Wednesday at local supermarkets.

New York state Senator David Carlucci, an Independent Democrat, can be found at a ShopRite in New City, in Rockland County at noon. He’ll be bagging groceries as he lets customers know about the high number of New Yorkers who go hungry every day. Meanwhile, Republican Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus will be bagging groceries beginning at 11 at the ShopRite of Chester. It’s part of ShopRite Partners In Caring “Help Bag the Hunger,” a community-based program that provides funds to local food banks.
