USCG Extends Comment Period For Proposed Anchorage Sites

WAMC, Allison Dunne

The U.S. Coast Guard has extended the public comment period for proposed rulemaking concerning anchorage sites along the Hudson River.

The Coast Guard will extend the public comment period on 10 proposed anchorage sites on the Hudson River, from Yonkers to Kingston. Originally set to close September 6, the comment period is now open until December 6. The Coast Guard says it has received nearly 2,400 comments thus far. A number of elected officials and environmental groups had been pushing for the extension. A letter to the Coast Guard admiral earlier this week from New York’s two U.S. senators and three congressional representatives was among the most recent urging the extension.
