With an April 23 deadline for casino license applications in New York State, the gaming company behind a proposal for an Albany suburb has come forward with plans to apply for another license for a casino in Orange County.
Saratoga Casino and Raceway will vie for a casino license not only for East Greenbush, but further south, in the Town of Newburgh in Orange County. A Saratoga Casino spokesman says the company will unveil details at a Newburgh Town Board meeting Thursday evening. He says the proposal calls for building on the Matrix Development Group site on Route 17K, just off I-84, near the New York State Thruway. Meanwhile, Nevele officials Tuesday announced their submission of a Gaming Facility License application for the redevelopment of the Nevele in Wawarsing, in Ulster County. And a casino company with a resort in Connecticut is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday evening for an office in Sullivan County, with a proposal for the Foxwoods Catskills Resort Casino. Each application carries a one-million-dollar fee.
