Material Shift showcases work by 13 Haudenosaunee artists who employ found objects and other unconventional materials to create or illustrate traditional cultural objects or concepts and those who, conversely, explore traditional materials in unexpected ways. Works range from playful to provocative. These events are made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute of Museum & Library Services, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and friends and members of the Iroquois Museum. This three-day retreat invites women to deepen their relationship with themselves and others through expressive arts, reflection, and heartfelt connection. Held at the historic Wiawaka Center for Women on Lake George, The Art of Relating: Pathways to Expression offers a spacious, restorative environment to slow down and reconnect with what feels true.
Now in its third year, the retreat blends intentional creativity, movement, time in nature, and soulful conversation to support women in strengthening self-trust, clarity, and authentic expression. Guided by relationship coach and author Joëlle Lydon, and rooted in the teachings of her book Unbreakable Us: Removing the Barriers to Love, this experience is ideal for women seeking meaningful connection, personal renewal, and grounded insight into how they relate.
No artistic experience required. Lodging and meals included.

In this 4-day course, students will learn the basics of both linocut and monotype printing. We will carve a linoleum block that can be printed multiple times and discover how this differs from making a monotype, which produces a unique, one-of-a-kind print! With our linoleum blocks, we will go over mark-making, basic carving techniques, and how to print an edition of prints. With monotypes, there will be more room for play and experimentation as we work with a plexiglass plate to explore additive, subtractive, and stenciling techniques. No prior experience necessary.
All materials included.
Parking: Please park on either Iwo Jima Lane or Cedar Street. Parking that is located in front of the Neighborhood Print Studio are for residents living in the Pajama Factory.
