A cherished holiday tradition for nearly two decades, Into the Light weaves together giant puppets, global dance, and live music in a joyful celebration of winter traditions from around the world.Presented by The Vanaver Caravan and Arm-of-the-Sea Theater, the production highlights holidays such as Kwanzaa, Diwali, Christmas, Chanukah, Sankta Lucia, Yule, and the Winter Solstice — honoring the many cultural ways people bring light, joy, and togetherness to the colder months.Blending Arm-of-the-Sea Theater’s striking puppetry with The Vanaver Caravan’s vibrant world-dance repertoire, Into the Light reminds us that community is the warmth that carries us through winter.

About this event:
Chicago Stepping is an improvisational form of social partner urban dance with its roots in the Chicago Bop and Lindy Hop. It is a smooth, classy, and versatile dance and is primarily danced to old school, soul, jazz, and r&b music. We are a tight-knit community. You'll meet many new people when we travel. You won't learn alone. You will learn the basics, the history culture, and etiquette of this wonderful dance. Can't wait to see you!

Nova Linea Contemporary Dance is Wisconsin’s premier contemporary dance company. Through a physically expressive movement style, Nova Linea aims to guide audiences through compelling stories, themes, and emotions, provoking thought and reflection.In this evening of dance, Nova Linea will present some wounds never heal. Choreographed by Artistic Director Jared Baker, this piece delves into the emotional landscape of loss. Exploring the depth of human emotion, some wounds never heal examines how grief shapes and changes us, posing profound questions: How do we pic ourselves back up and continue moving forward? How do these life-altering events leave their mark on us, both physically and emotionally? This piece not only reflects personal pain, but also emphasizes the importance of community, compassion, and empathy in the healing process. It highlights how shared experiences of loss can forge deeper connections between individuals, fostering a collective resilience. This moving performance invites the audience to engage with their own experiences of grief and to find solace in the understanding and support of others.
