Each October, Archtober Newburgh does exactly that with 50+ free events, including walks, talks, tours, workshops, and gatherings for both locals and visitors.

A GREAT Taste and Experience of Harlem Culture! Harlem's signature cultural dance is the world famous Lindy Hop. While nearly a 100 year old dance it is still enjoyed enormously today worldwide - as far as China, Spain and even parts of Africa!

Come on and join us on Tuesday eves so you can experience and learn this exciting cultural dance art form. You'll hear some swinging jazz classics and how to do this swinging dance to some music of today too. No partner necessary, wear comfy shoes. All ages welcome!

Embark on a tranquil midweek journey through LongHouse Reserve's 16-acre sculpture garden and nature sanctuary. In these weekly walks, expert docent Irwin Levy leads an intimate, hour-plus long tour that delves into the harmonious blend of art, design, and nature created and curated by founder Jack Lenor Larsen.

Move with mindfulness and find balance in nature with Katherine Henderson. Offered on alternating Thursdays from May to September, Tai Chi is a gentle practice that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and improves strength and stability. Set against the serene backdrop of LongHouse, this class welcomes all ages and experience levels to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with the beauty around you. Also offered on Saturdays.

Following their bi-annual week-long residency at Skidmore, Ensemble Connect brings its signature energy and precision to a program rooted in richly expressive chamber music. The concert opens with Ligeti’s Trio for Violin, Horn, and Piano and Loeffler’s Two Rhapsodies, followed by Kodály’s Serenade, Op. 12 and Bartók’s Contrasts, BB 116. Together, these works highlight the ensemble’s versatility while offering audiences an intimate encounter with music shaped by folk influence, modernist color, and striking instrumental conversation.

The Alzheimer's Association invites the community to participate in the Albany Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, October 24, at Siena University, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville.
Check-in begins at 10:00 a.m. The opening ceremony starts at 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by the walk.
The Promise Garden ceremony honors those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias. Participants carry flowers of different colors, with each color representing their personal connection to the disease.
With new treatments emerging in the fight against Alzheimer's and other dementias, the Walk to End Alzheimer's raises awareness and supports the Alzheimer's Association's care, support, and research efforts.
